Chapter Four

Life at Colin’s place was better. Minny hated to admit it, but the privacy of a house and having one bed for sleep and sweet snuggling with another room perfect for kink made it all so much easier.

It’d been two weeks of daily play, and she’d only been back to her apartment a few times for clothes. Most men weren’t into domestic bliss this fast, but she refused to let it worry her. Colin was quirky. She turned off the shower and stepped out. After a towel dry and a comb through her hair, she exited the bathroom.

Instead of him making breakfast or getting ready, she found him on the phone already dressed and looking tense. He’d mentioned it would be a busy day but working together, they always found a little time alone. All she wanted was a distraction tonight at least.

She dressed quickly and ducked back in the bathroom to fix her hair. A thin layer of makeup later, she finally heard him hang up.

“That sounded painful. Everything okay?” she asked.

“Fine. Just the day from hell. Why does everyone have to converge on one day with their insanity?” He headed for the kitchen.

She slid on shoes and followed. “You don’t have to please everyone.”

“I committed to these things. It’s just annoying. An all-day department meeting for the coming semester broken up by a lunch with the department head about grad students. Then that damn fundraiser dinner.”

Even dinner? “That’s tonight?” She’d made sure everyone was going, and those with wives, girlfriends or boyfriends could bring their dates, so there were no excuses. The department head was adamant every single professor attend. After Minny signed them up, the campus events coordinator handled the food and location so it’d slipped her mind.

“You signed us all up under penalty of death months ago.” He kissed her cheek. “One day apart. You’ll actually have a chance to miss me.”

“I will. I’ve gotten used to some time with you every day.” She reached for bread to put in the toaster. It was her day to cook. “Do you want some eggs?”

“No, thank you. With lunch with the department head and then that fancy dinner to show off, I’ll be stuffed. I’m going to skip breakfast. Don’t worry, my weekend is all yours.” He hugged her from behind. “I’ll make it up to you, and if you get a busy day, I won’t complain.”

She smiled and nodded. It wasn’t that she couldn’t go a day without play or without his attention. This day just happened to be the one she’d been pretending wouldn’t arrive or wouldn’t hit her hard.

“You okay?” He poured coffee in his travel cup and did one for her, as well.

“Yes, I need to go home anyway. Get some fresh clothes and check the mail. Pay some bills. It’ll work out great,” she lied.

He opened a kitchen drawer and pulled out a key. “Why don’t you bring a bunch of stuff here? The tall dresser and closet in the play bedroom are basically empty.
